Widow Sunday aims to be a beacon of originality amongst a sea of generic metal acts. Named after a medical abomination from the 19th century, the groups sound follows suit by unconventionally blending styles across the spectrum of heavy music. Built off of powerful hooks and infectious grooves without forsaking any intensity or brutality, Widow Sunday refuses to follow trends and create music infused with honesty and passion.

Formed from the ashes of successful East Coast bands, Widow Sunday came together in December of 2007 with the goal of having fun and playing brutal music. The group played a myriad of shows in the New England area while spending the bulk of their time writing and recording in their hometown with producer Jim Foster (WHITE, NULLSET). After a several months and a couple lineup shifts, the line-up became solidified in February of 2009.

With renewed focus, the future holds great things for Widow Sunday. Now signed to Rat Pak Records/CM Distribution, the release of their debut EP “Embracing the Beast Within” is fast approaching. With an accompanying video for the single “The Strings of Clarity” in tow, the band will spend the next few months touring in support of the release before hitting the studio to begin work on their first full-length album. Now hitting a heavy stride, Widow Sunday plans to spread the uncompromising brutality of their sound to the entire world.
